How to Transfer Your Chip to a Metal Card
Your metal card arrives as a finished card body with a self-transfer kit. You move the chip across from your existing ATM, debit or credit card yourself, at home, in about 30 seconds. We never ask for, see or handle your bank card.
Move your chip in 30 seconds
No need to send your card.
Why you move the chip yourself
For your privacy and security. Sending a bank card to a stranger means handing over your card number, your expiry date and the chip that authorises your money. We do not ask you to do that.
Instead, you receive your engraved metal card body together with a self-transfer kit and clear instructions. Your real card never leaves your hands, and you are never left without a working card while something sits in the post.
What you need before you start
- Your metal card body from The Rich Card
- The self-transfer kit included in your order
- Your current plastic ATM, debit or credit card
- A clean, flat, well-lit surface
- About five minutes, unhurried
Everything you need is in the box, along with printed step-by-step instructions. There is nothing to buy separately.
The chip transfer, step by step
Watch the 51-second video once all the way through, then work along with it on a clean, flat surface.
-
Warm the back of the chip area
Turn your plastic card face down. Using a low flame, gently warm the back of the card directly behind the chip, keeping the heat moving rather than holding it in one spot. Keep checking as you go: you are waiting for the chip area to loosen, nothing more.
-
Lift the chip out
As soon as it feels loose, bend the card gently and ease the chip away. Take your time here and keep the gold contact face clean and unscratched — that surface is the part an ATM actually reads.
-
Glue the chip into your metal card
Put one small drop of the glue from your kit into the chip recess on your metal card. Set the chip in exactly the same direction and position it sat in on your plastic card, press it gently into place, and leave it to set.
-
Test your card
Check your balance at an ATM, or make one small purchase on a POS machine. Your bank sees exactly the same chip it saw before, so your card should work straight away.
Go gently with the heat. A low flame, kept moving and used a few seconds at a time, is all it takes. Too much heat in one spot is the one thing that can damage a chip, so let the card cool for a moment before you handle it.
Does transferring the chip change anything with my bank?
No. Your card number, your PIN, your balance and your limits all stay exactly as they were. Your bank sees the same chip carrying out the same transactions as before, so there is nothing to tell them and nothing to re-register.
Your metal card works in the same ATMs and on the same POS machines you already use, in Pakistan and abroad.
If something goes wrong
- If the chip is damaged during the transfer. Contact your bank and ask for a replacement card or chip, then repeat the transfer into the same metal card body.
- If your bank reissues your card later. You can move the new chip into the same metal card body using the same process. The body is yours to reuse.
- If you get stuck at any point. Message us on WhatsApp and a member of our team will walk you through it, step by step.
